UN FIUME DI PETROLIO.

Il fiume Ambarnaya si è colorato di un rosa cremisi: 20.000 tonnellate di prodotti petroliferi sono stati sversati nel sistema fluviale e nel sottosuolo.

Il terribile disastro ambientale si è verificato nella centrale elettrica della città industriale di Norilsk.

Ci vorranno molti anni prima che il fiume possa disintossicarsi dall’inquinamento subito.

Ma questo disastro rischia di lasciare segni ancora più' profondi e non solo nella Russia siberiana: la minaccia diventa più' grave di ora in ora, perché le acque stanno portando i veleni petroliferi verso il mare e verso l'Artico.

Questa situazione potrebbe creare un'apocalisse ecologica forse peggiore di quella provocata dalla Exxon Valdez nel 1989: ognuno di noi è coinvolto perché l'intero equilibrio ambientale è minacciato e con esso la qualità del nostro futuro.

A RIVER OF OIL.

The Ambarnaya River turned crimson pink: 20,000 tons of petroleum products were spilled into the river system and underground.

The terrible environmental disaster occurred in the power plant of the industrial city of Norilsk.

It will take many years for the river to detoxify itself from pollution.

But this disaster risks leaving even deeper signs and not only in Siberian Russia: the threat becomes more serious hour by hour, because the waters are bringing the oil poisons towards the sea and the Arctic.

This situation could create an ecological apocalypse perhaps worse than that caused by Exxon Valdez in 1989: each of us is involved because the entire environmental balance is threatened and with it the quality of our future.
