LA SOFFERENZA DEL TIGRAY E' DIVENTATA CATASTROFE!

Sarebbero già un milione ma potrebbero anche essere di più gli sfollati nella regione del Tigrè, in Etiopia, dove da tre settimane è in corso la "offensiva finale" voluta da Abiy Ahmed da Addis Abeba contro i ribelli del Fronte Popolare di Liberazione.

I violenti combattimenti degli ultimi giorni hanno spinto altre migliaia di profughi a cercare riparo in Sudan affrontando un esodo pericoloso che conduce alla miseria e ad indicibili privazioni. Secondo le stime delle Nazioni Unite dal 4 novembre i civili in fuga hanno attraversato senza sosta il fiume Tekeze, che segna il confine tra i due paesi il Tigrè etiope ed il Sudan.

Per molti di loro, intere famiglie in fuga, l'attraversamento del fiume Tekeze rappresenta l'ultima tappa di un viaggio lungo e pericoloso dove la morte è sempre in agguato ed al quale non tutti riescono a sopravvivere.

Il governo sudanese ha allestito un centro di transito al confine: qui le persone dovrebbero restare solo pochi giorni prima di venire destinati ad altri centri sul territorio ma le difficoltà materiali bloccano molti profughi qui per settimane.

Il Nobel per la Pace 2019, Abiy Ahmaed si è rivelato rapidamente un tiranno illiberale che usa l'esercito e le armi contro il suo stesso popolo causando una vera e propria catastrofe umanitaria che destabilizzerà la regione e tutto porterà eccetto la Pace.

Non possiamo tacere queste tragedie: il nostro dovere è testimoniare e diffondere le notizie e le immagini di quanto succede per sostenere i diritti umani dei profughi e promuovere una reazione internazionale contro l'illegalità e la violenza, da qualsiasi parte essa provenga.

THE SUFFERING OF THE TIGRAY HAS BECOME CATASTROPHE!

There would already be a million but there could also be more displaced people in the Tigray region, in Ethiopia, where the "final offensive" wanted by Abiy Ahmed from Addis Ababa against the rebels of the Popular Liberation Front has been underway for three weeks.

The violent fighting in recent days has prompted thousands of other refugees to seek refuge in Sudan facing a dangerous exodus that leads to misery and unspeakable deprivation. According to United Nations estimates, since 4 November, the fleeing civilians have crossed the Tekeze River relentlessly, which marks the border between the two countries, the Ethiopian Tigray and Sudan.

For many of them, entire families on the run, the crossing of the Tekeze River represents the last stage of a long and dangerous journey where death is always lurking and not everyone can survive.

The Sudanese government has set up a transit center at the border: people are expected to stay here only a few days before being sent to other centers on the territory but material difficulties block many refugees here for weeks.

The 2019 Nobel Peace Prize winner Abiy Ahmaed has quickly revealed himself to be an illiberal tyrant who uses the army and weapons against his own people causing a real humanitarian catastrophe that will destabilize the region and bring everything except Peace.

We cannot keep silent about these tragedies: our duty is to witness and spread the news and images of what is happening to support the human rights of refugees and promote an international reaction against illegality and violence, wherever it comes from.
